EnVision, which means “Engaging through Vision”, is a period bulk tender initiative by IDA, for the supply of video hosting and streaming services using the utility pricing model to government ministries, statutory boards, organs of state and participating entities. It was awarded to EvvoMedia and ServTouch in mid-March 2010 for an initial period of two years and was recently extended by an additional year till mid-March 2013.

Support scheme for schools for cloud-based video hosting and streaming

On 15 May 2012, IDA announced a new six-month support scheme under Envision for the provision of cloud resources for schools to develop and host their own video sites. A variety of videos can be created, ranging from schools’ achievements, performances, and overseas trips. Students will be able to use the video sites as a platform to showcase their creativity and efforts, as well as generate publicity for their schools. We hope to see more schools leverage this support scheme and in doing so, promote more active and dynamic videography and journalism activities among students.

Support scheme includes

• Basic video site development with five functions:
  • Admin Login for uploading of videos
  • Search function
  • Add comment (with moderator’s approval required)
  • Display Latest videos
  • Display Related videos
• 100 per cent waiver of compute and storage cost (capped at $1,300)
• 50 per cent waiver of video streaming cost

Validity of support scheme

15 May 2012 to 14 Mar 2013

Videos will be displayed via:

• Schools’ registered domain
• EnVision vendors’ Video Hosting and Streaming Platform (VHSP) sites

Eligibility

All GeBiz-registered schools are eligible. Participating schools are encouraged to upload at least five videos on the video sites, as they stand a chance to be nominated for Best Video Site (criteria will be announced later).

Selection of vendor

Schools will select their preferred EnVision vendor to work with.

Procurement procedure

Schools will issue the purchase orders via GeBiz, quoting “Support scheme under EnVision” to selected EnVision vendor.

The objective of the talk is to provide an overview of the ISO/IEC 27001 – an internationally well-recognised, auditable, information security management standard.  It defines a top-down, business driven, and risk-based framework for organisations to develop their information security management systems (ISMS).  For audience who wish to learn more about the standard, this is a good opportunity to learn from the subject matter expert.  There will also be a brief sharing on the ISO 27001 Certification Grant Scheme by IDA.

Chris is the Product Manager and Lead Auditor with TUV SUD PSB. As an experienced auditor, he has been conducting audits for customers of diversified industries in relation to certification schemes like IS0 9001(QMS), ISO 27001(ISMS), ISO 20000 (ITSM), SS 540 (BCM), BS 25999 (BCM), SS 507 (BC/DR), etc. Chris currently holds a Master degree in Information Technology Management. In addition, he has been awarded the prestigious status of Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) and CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer.

David Smith
Vice President, Marketing

David Smith has a long history with the R and statistics communities. After graduating with a degree in Statistics from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, he spent four years researching statistical methodology at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, where he also developed a number of packages for the S-PLUS statistical modeling environment. He continued his association with S-PLUS at Insightful (now TIBCO Spotfire) overseeing the product management of S-PLUS and other statistical and data mining products. David smith is the co-author (with Bill Venables) of the popular tutorial manual, An Introduction to R, and one of the originating developers of the ESS: Emacs Speaks Statistics project. Today, David leads marketing for REvolution R, supports R communities worldwide, and is responsible for the Revolutions blog. Prior to joining Revolution Analytics, David served as vice president of product management at Zynchros, Inc.
